Long weekend with a book..

A long weekend and it was really boring after celebrating the victory of the great World Cup.  One good thing I felt I did was, I completed reading a book ‘Eleven Minutes’ by Paulo Coelho. The book is about a young girl called Maria who chases her dreams and ends up working as a prostitute.  Though the story is about a prostitute, it doesn’t highlight only about sex, there were also many other common things where any person would experience were written in the book. Here are some quotes I liked and picked up to share with you,

'Good or Bad, it starts from one mind'

‘Good or Bad, it starts from one mind’ - my teacher said this in our school function. It is true, any idea which ends good or bad, even if it is a team work, the idea is from one beautiful mind. I am experiencing such a beautiful thing now…

We had an intra-department football tournament in our organization.  That day was really awesome and memorable for those who had participated. Our department won the trophy and we had a blast that day.  After all our celebrations, my bro Nikhil said me, ‘Why can’t we form a team for our organization picking up all good players from different department and play tournaments outside?’. That was the beautiful idea from a beautiful mind.

We had a short meeting with all our guys to form a team for our organization.  Then we come to know that they had a team earlier and now they don’t.  They were practicing earlier and now they don’t.  So this idea will be a re-union for the team but with some new players. With the same team spirit, all our guys have accepted to form a team.  With the co-operation of all our guys we are practicing for the past two months.

Today we got a chance to play a tournament. We were all motivated and were confident of bringing back the trophy. So we started early in the morning and reached the spot at 9am. As per the match fixtures, our matches were in the afternoon. The organizers have organized some team building activities in the morning for those who don’t have matches in the morning, so we had a nice time over there.

Then our matches started post lunch. The weather was very hot. We all were warmed up and were ready to play.  Our first match was really good and we won that by 2-0. Very next match is again ours, and we lost that.  One thing is true, we were playing with those guys, who plays football daily but we were equally strong. Though we had lost the match, I somehow feel this is a good start for us.

Thanks to that beautiful mind (Nikhil) – I dedicate this post to Nikhi. But without the co-operation of the team it wouldn’t happen.  Arun, Ali, Sabya, Harshdeep, Rahul, Sanky and Pradeep are all in our team. They come to practice regularly and also they have interest in doing this.  Special thanks to Arun Nair, without whom we couldn’t go to the tournament.

We all would have felt good if we would have brought the trophy, but it’s ok. We hope that we had a good start.  I believe that we will surely go a long way. Here is our team,

I would appreciate if you answer this question?

Last week my friend called me to my mobile,

Friend: How r u?

I said, ‘I am fine, thanks. How r u?’.

Friend: I am doing great. How is life?

I said ‘That’s going fine and nothing much special’.

Friend: Ok, so how many people did u really appreciate today?

What? I didn’t get u? I said. (It sounded strange to me)

He repeated the question. How many people did u really appreciate today?

I didn’t expect this question from him and I don’t know why he asked it. I tried to answer the question, but my answer was none. I asked him why did you ask this?

My friend said, Just try doing it.

Then I started thinking about it and got some thing to share with you.

We all write blogs and everyone have our own reasons to do it. Some may say - that’s their hobby, some may say - that’s how they share ideas, some may say - that’s the place to scribble whatever they like, some may do it to be familiar, some may use this as a business medium. Whatever might be the reason, just think that if no one commented on our blog / if no one follows you / you come to know that no one reads it. Would you really feel happy?  Well, you may or may not. But think the other way, if people comment on your blog / follow your blog / you come to know that someone reads it regularly, then you will surely feel happy. I bet you.

So I thought that a small response to a person will surely motivates him, encourages him, makes him/her feel good, makes him feel someone is close to him, which is equivalent to appreciation. Now-a-days a person has more virtual friends than actual friends who he daily meets and talks to. But the same thing is to everyone whom we meet everyday in office, in family, with wife/husband and with friends. Listening and responding to them. That is how a person feels recognized and appreciated. So I am and hope so we are.

When I give more I get more, and I feel that there is always something to give. (U don't believe me, u need an example - 'Smile' )

Don't Prejudice

Yesterday, we went to play cricket match. That was the third match for us in that tournament (Didn’t matter we lose or win, because we had already lost the first two). Before the match had started, there was a photo session for both the teams, ours and opponents. I saw the playing eleven of their team and felt little happy, I said that we are going to win this match (At least that would have consoled our last two loss).

Until I saw their team, I didn’t have any idea about the match. The moment I saw them I thought we will win. The reason is, in the playing eleven of their team, 2 were above 50 yrs old, 3 were above 40, 3 were below 30 and others are above 30. In our team all were youngsters, and their age is below 30.

Since our captain won the toss, we opted to bat first. Before our batsman’s get inside the pitch, the fielding was set. There were 4 slips and others were inside the circle. Watching their field, settings people in our team started laughing at them. The match started and the bowlers were old people. They bowled brilliantly and fiercely, and took the wickets one by one. After seeing their bowling none of our batsman were willing to get down into the pitch voluntarily. They bowled excellently and they knocked out us in 62 runs in 15 overs.

We totally got disappointed and then we made our mind to play with hope. We started bowling, they slowly started sending the ball to the boundaries through the ground and later through air. The match ended up in 4.4 overs.

It was like a big slap to me. I asked myself that, ‘how dare you could judge people before they show who they are?’. It was a good lesson to me. Then I thought I won something today and left from the ground happily. 

On the whole, we enjoyed the match with all these fun and had a nice dinner too (Chicken Biriyani).
